A "Iskander" cruise missile, not a "Shahed," crashed into the building of the Cabinet of Ministers
During the large-scale combined long-range attack by the Russian Federation that took place on the night of September 7, a Shahed drone did not hit the Cabinet of Ministers building, but a 9M727 cruise missile from the Iskander operational-tactical complex. Its warhead did not explode.

EU Ambassador Katarina Maternova claims that the building of the Ukrainian Cabinet of Ministers was damaged by a Russian ballistic missile "Iskander".

She wrote about this on Facebook. Maternova stated that in the morning she visited the Cabinet of Ministers building together with other heads of diplomatic missions. Prime Minister Yulia Sviridenko, as well as the heads of the MFA and the Ministry of Internal Affairs, accompanied the diplomatic delegation.

The publication Defense Express noted that the warhead of the Russian cruise missile "Iskander-K", which hit the building of the Ukrainian government, weighing 450 kg, did not explode. This information was obtained by Defense Express from its own sources.

Also, the press service of the Ministry of Internal Affairs told "Ukrainska Pravda" that, according to preliminary information, the "Iskander" hit the building of the Cabinet: "The type will be determined by expertise. Most likely, it was a cruise missile. It was aimed specifically at the government quarter".

The cruise missile 9M727 is one of three designed for the OTRK "Iskander", along with 9M728, 9M729. They are mostly referred to simply as "Iskander-K" or R-500. It is believed that 9M727 is a variation of the 3M-14 "Caliber" for ground launch. It is actively used by the enemy for strikes on Ukrainian cities. One of the most well-known episodes involving its use was the strike on the drama theater in Chernihiv in 2023.
