Drug dealer selling psilocybin mushrooms under the guise of chocolate exposed in Kyiv
In Kyiv, law enforcement officers exposed a 31-year-old resident of the capital who set up a laboratory for growing psilocybin mushrooms in his apartment and sold them disguised as chocolate bars. This was reported by the Kyiv Police.
According to the investigation, the man grew psychotropic mushrooms in his apartment, packaged them in the form of chocolate and sold them in the city during personal meetings with customers. He found clients through his friends. The suspect also sold some of the products in their pure form without disguise.
During the search, law enforcement officers seized chocolate bars containing psilocybin mushrooms, dried mushrooms, containers for growing them, zip bags with spores, containers with mycelium, bags of cannabis, the psychotropic substance kratom, as well as cash received from the sale. The estimated value of the seized illegal substances at black market prices exceeds UAH 1 million.
The man was detained in accordance with Article 208 of the Criminal Procedure Code of Ukraine. Under the procedural supervision of the Kyiv City Prosecutor's Office, he was served a notice of suspicion under part three of Article 307 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine. The court chose a custody as a measure of restraint.
According to the sanction of the article, the suspect faces up to 12 years in prison with confiscation of property.
