A fraudulent scheme involving the fake production of drones for the Armed Forces of Ukraine was uncovered in Kyiv.
The Kyiv police uncovered a fraudulent scheme involving the pseudo-production of unmanned aerial vehicles for the needs of the Armed Forces of Ukraine. Under the guise of manufacturing drones, the perpetrators received advance payments from customers and then disappeared.
According to the investigation, two residents of the Volyn region, aged 18 and 19, were involved in the illegal activity. They used the brand of one of the well-known Ukrainian manufacturers of UAVs and posted advertisements on the Internet offering to manufacture quadcopters. After receiving the advance payment, no orders were fulfilled, and contact with the so-called contractors was lost.
As part of this scheme, a private company that supplies drones to the military initially transferred an advance payment of 180,000 hryvnias, and later another 430,000 hryvnias. The total amount of damage caused was over 600,000 hryvnias.
As a result of the joint work of investigators and operatives of the Darnytskyi Police Department, both suspects were exposed and detained. The funds obtained by fraudulent means were returned to their rightful owner.
Under the procedural guidance of the Darnytskyi District Prosecutor's Office, the suspects were charged under Part 4 of Article 190 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine. This refers to aiding and abetting fraud committed by a group of individuals under martial law and on a large scale. The investigation is ongoing.
