In New York, a passenger plane collided with a car; there are casualties
This is according to Reuters.
The CRJ-900 aircraft, which was flying from Montreal to Quebec City, was operated by Jazz, a regional partner of Air Canada. Travelling at a speed of around 39 km/h, it collided with a fire engine belonging to the Port Authority of New York and New Jersey.
Details of the casualties have not yet been released. NBC News, citing sources, reported that there were 76 passengers and four crew members on board: both pilots sustained serious injuries, whilst a sergeant and an officer (presumably New York Port Authority employees who were in the vehicle) suffered broken limbs and are currently in hospital in a critical condition.
Due to the incident, the airport remains closed for the time being, and arriving flights will be diverted to other airports.
