On the night of 16 April, a fire was reported in Tuapse, in Russia’s Krasnodar Krai, following a series of explosions. According to reports, the fire broke out at a local oil refinery.

On the night of 15 April, residents of the Krasnodar Krai reported numerous explosions. Later, the region’s governor, Veniamin Kondratyev, stated that there were casualties in Tuapse as a result of the attack.

According to reports circulating on social media, eyewitnesses recorded a fire that broke out following the explosions. According to an analysis by ASTRA, the fire occurred at the Tuapse oil refinery.

It is also reported that two children were killed in the attack, and two adults were injured. Classes have been cancelled in all educational institutions in the city.

The Tuapse Oil Refinery is operated by RN-Tuapse Oil Refinery LLC. It is part of the Rosneft oil company and forms a single production complex with the RN-Tuapse Sea Terminal LLC marine terminal.

According to the Russian Ministry of Defence, overnight, air defence forces shot down 207 drones over the territories of the Belgorod, Smolensk, Kursk, Bryansk and Oryol regions, the Krasnodar Krai, the temporarily occupied Crimea, as well as over the waters of the Black and Azov Seas.
