In Veliky Novgorod, drones attacked the Akron chemical plant and caused a large-scale fire
On the night of 11 December, drones struck a strategic chemical plant in Veliky Novgorod, where a fire broke out that engulfed the Akron plant

On the night of 11 December, residents of Veliky Novgorod heard explosions and saw drones flying overhead. According to local public groups and media reports, the Akron chemical plant was hit. Videos showing a powerful fire over the industrial zone were shared online. Regional Governor Alexander Dronov confirmed the attack and announced that air defence forces were responding, but Russian authorities have not officially reported on the consequences.

Akron is one of Russia's key mineral fertiliser producers and is of strategic importance to the military-industrial complex. The company produces ammonia, nitric acid and ammonium nitrate, which are used in the manufacture of explosives. The ultimate beneficiary of the group is considered to be Russian oligarch Vyacheslav Kantor, who is under sanctions from Ukraine, the EU and the UK.

The attack on the plant is part of the Ukrainian Defence Forces' systematic tactics aimed at destroying facilities that support the Russian military infrastructure, including oil refineries, ammunition depots and military-industrial complex enterprises.
