Ukraine conducted a new prisoner exchange with the RF
The next stage of prisoner exchange between Ukraine and Russia took place within the framework of the agreements reached in Istanbul.

President Volodymyr Zelensky announced this on Telegram.

«We are bringing Ukrainians home, to Ukraine. A new exchange, 84 people. This includes both military personnel and civilians. Almost all of them need medical assistance, significant rehabilitation,» noted the head of state.

According to the president, among the civilians released today are those who have been held by the Russians since 2014, 2016, and 2017. Among the military personnel released today are the defenders of Mariupol.

The Coordination Headquarters for the Treatment of Prisoners of War reported that, as part of this exchange, they managed to free Ukrainian civilians and military personnel detained in the temporarily occupied territories even before the full-scale invasion and unlawfully sentenced to long terms of imprisonment – from 10 to 18 years.
