Ukrainian drones attacked a chemical plant in the Stavropol Krai and an oil refinery in the Nizhny Novgorod Oblast
The governor of the Stavropol Krai has stated that there were no casualties or damage as a result of the attack in Nevinnomyssk.
However, according to eyewitnesses, a fire broke out in the industrial zone. As reported by monitoring Telegram channels, the fire occurred on the premises of the Azot chemical plant, which is owned by EuroChem.
According to Reuters, between 2022 and 2024, the plant supplied raw materials for the production of explosives, which were subsequently used in artillery shells.
Since the start of the full-scale war against Ukraine, the plant has been attacked seven times. The previous attack on the plant took place in May 2026.
Also, on the morning of 20 May, drones attacked the town of Kstovo in the Nizhny Novgorod region.
The regional authorities did not officially report the attack. Local residents posted photos and videos on social media showing drones flying overhead and a fire at an industrial site.
According to available information, the target was the Nizhegorodnefteorgsintez oil refinery, which is owned by Lukoil.
The plant is Russia’s fourth-largest in terms of oil refining capacity and second-largest in terms of petrol production. The plant can produce around 5 million tonnes of motor petrol, over 5 million tonnes of diesel fuel, more than 2 million tonnes of fuel oil and around 0.5 million tonnes of road bitumen.
Earlier, Reuters sources reported that the plant had already halted oil refining following a drone attack on 5 April.
