On the night of 15 May, Ukrainian drones attacked a military airfield in Yeisk, in the Krasnodar Krai, and an oil refinery in Ryazan. Fires broke out at the sites following the strikes.

On the night of 15 May, Ukrainian drones struck a military airfield in the city of Yeisk in the Krasnodar Krai region of the Russian Federation.

A fire at the site was reported on the Telegram channel of the Ukrainian Armed Forces’ Unmanned Systems Forces. Footage shows buildings at the airfield ablaze. The Ukrainian channel Supernova also reported a fire in the vicinity of the site. Prior to this, residents of the town had posted about air defence activity and explosions.

The commander of the Unmanned Systems Forces of the Ukrainian Armed Forces, Robert ‘Madyar’ Brovdi, confirmed that the strike on the airfield was carried out by UAS drones.

According to him, the attack damaged a Be-200 ‘Altair’ amphibious aircraft and a Ka-27 naval helicopter.

The 859th Centre for Combat Deployment and Retraining of Naval Aviation Flight Crews of the Russian Navy is stationed in the Yeisk area. The NITKA complex, used for practising take-offs and landings of carrier-based aircraft, is also located there.

Other targets were also hit

Robert Brovdi reported that drones from the Unmanned Systems Forces also struck a number of other targets in Taganrog and in Russian-occupied territories of Ukraine.

These included the Tor-M2 anti-aircraft missile system in the village of Goncharove in the Luhansk region and the Pantsir-S1 anti-aircraft missile and gun system in the Crimean village of Khutorok.

According to the commander of the Unmanned Systems Forces, these are the 16th and 17th elements of the Russian air defence system to be struck by units of the Unmanned Systems Forces between 1 and 15 May.

Also, according to his information, a dry cargo ship used to transport ammunition was struck in Berdyansk, whilst in Raigorodok, within the territory of the so-called ‘LPR’, a Russian Armed Forces personnel deployment site and training centre came under attack.

On the night of 15 May, Ukrainian drones also attacked a Rosneft oil refinery in Ryazan, as reported by ThePublic. Following the strike, a fire broke out on the refinery’s premises, and a thick column of smoke rose above the city.
