Ukraine is forming an anti-ballistic missile coalition in Europe – Zelenskyy
This was stated in the Ukrainian leader’s evening address.
“I would like to thank our European partners today: there was a meeting at the level of national security advisers. We are gradually making progress on the issue of anti-ballistic missile production in Europe; we are forming an anti-ballistic missile coalition. It is worth doing this, and we are now closer to a result than ever before,” he said.
The President reported that 13 countries and the Office of the NATO Secretary General were represented at the meeting.
“This is an important, very important initiative. Overall, Ukraine’s position on the front line, in our long-range sanctions and in joint results with partners is now at its highest level in years. We must maintain this level and achieve results. That is exactly what we are doing,” Zelenskyy emphasised.
The multinational coalition in the field of defence procurement was established by Ukraine, Italy, Finland, Norway, Sweden and the United Kingdom. It is needed to improve coordination between procurement agencies and enhance the resilience of supply systems, and remains open to other states provided they sign the memorandum and receive the unanimous support of the Board of Directors.
The initiative to create the coalition came from the Ministry of Defence’s Defence Procurement Agency (DPA).
As a reminder, earlier, the Ukrainian and German defence ministers, Mykhailo Fedorov and Boris Pistorius, signed a letter of intent in Kyiv regarding the launch of Brave Germany – a joint programme for the development of defence technologies and support for innovative start-ups.
