The Ukrainian Air Force shot down all the cruise missiles during the night-time attack on 24 March
Yuriy Ignat, Head of the Communications Department of the Ukrainian Air Force Command, reported that 18 Kh-101 cruise missiles and 5 Iskander-K missiles were shot down during the attack.
According to him, all the cruise missiles were intercepted. He noted that this is the second consecutive instance in which such a result has been achieved thanks to the joint efforts of the air defence forces.
Ignat added that Ukrainian aviation, in particular F-16 and Mirage aircraft, played a significant role in repelling the strike. It was their deployment that enabled the complete destruction of the cruise missiles.
At the same time, he emphasised that the situation regarding the interception of ballistic targets remains difficult. According to him, due to a shortage of Patriot-type systems, the results of ballistic missile interception in frontline areas are disappointing.
In total, during the combined strike, the enemy deployed 426 air attack assets. According to preliminary data, air defence forces destroyed 390 targets, including 25 missiles and 365 drones of various types.
The air attack was repelled by aviation, anti-aircraft missile forces, electronic warfare units, unmanned systems and mobile fire groups.
Six missiles and 27 attack drones were recorded as having struck 22 locations, and debris from downed drones was found in 10 locations. Details regarding three missiles are being verified.
