Ukrenergo will help Moldova repair the power lines damaged by Russian shelling
This was announced by Moldova’s Minister of Energy, Dorin Junghiu.
The project concerns the key 400 kV Isaccha–Vulcanesti power line, which connects the republic with Romania.
The Ukrainian company will be the main technical partner in the repair work, which, according to preliminary estimates, will take between five and seven days.
Dorin Junghiu confirmed that it is precisely Ukrenergo’s support that will enable the power line to be repaired promptly in the damaged section.
Russian drones struck a direct blow to the Republic of Moldova’s infrastructure, which was the decisive factor in the country declaring a 60-day state of emergency in the energy sector. The state of emergency officially came into force on 25 March 2026.
Moldova’s power system has now swiftly switched to four alternative 110 kV lines.
Domestic demand is being met by the country’s own thermal power plants, renewable energy sources and imports via reserve capacity. This operating regime will continue until the completion of restoration work carried out jointly with Ukrainian energy companies.
