The latest prisoner exchange has resulted in the return of 193 Ukrainian servicemen, who are already receiving the necessary assistance.

193 defenders, released from Russian captivity as part of the latest prisoner exchange organised by the Coordination Headquarters on the instructions of the President of Ukraine, have returned to Ukraine, Kirill Budanov announced on Telegram.

The released servicemen are already receiving medical and other necessary assistance. It is noted that this exchange was the second phase of the Easter exchange.

Among those who have returned are many young servicemen born in 2000, as well as soldiers and officers who took part in combat operations on various sections of the front line. Some of those released have sustained injuries.

It is also reported that some of the servicemen had been held in illegal detention in Chechnya.

“My congratulations to all our soldiers and their families who have waited for this day. As I have said, we continue to free our own — come what may,” the statement reads.

Two of the released soldiers, who are celebrating their birthdays on 24 April, were also mentioned.

“Vadym! Ivan! I wish you a speedy recovery and good health! Thank you for your service and for defending Ukraine!” the message reads.

Separate thanks were expressed to partners from the United States of America and the United Arab Emirates for their assistance in facilitating the exchange.

The Ukrainian side states its intention to continue working to secure the return of all prisoners of war.
