In Belarus, the "West-2025" exercises have begun, which will last until September 16.
This is happening against the backdrop of increasing tension following the invasion of Russian drones into the country's airspace. This is reported by TVP.
It is expected that tens of thousands of military personnel will participate in the periodic joint Russian-Belarusian exercises "West-2025". The publication states that this prompted Poland to decide to deploy "about 40 thousand" of its soldiers near the eastern border.
On the night of September 12, Poland closed the border with Belarus. This is related to military exercises of Russia and Belarus. Polish Interior Minister Mariusz Kamiński announced this.
"At midnight, we closed the movement at the border with Belarus. This is related to the 'West-2025' military exercises," said Kamiński at a press conference at the Terespol border crossing point.
According to him, these exercises are directly "aimed against Poland and the European Union." He also clarified when the border will be reopened again.
Earlier, Lithuania's military intelligence reported that, according to their data, 30,000 soldiers from Belarus and Russia will participate in the "West-2025" exercises.
