The bodies of 1212 fallen soldiers have been returned to Ukraine
Ukraine has returned the bodies of another 1,212 fallen soldiers, the Coordination Headquarters for the Treatment of Prisoners of War reported on June 11.
According to the headquarters, this concerns those killed in battles in the Kursk region of Russia, in Kharkiv, Luhansk, Donetsk, Zaporizhzhia, and Kherson regions.
The headquarters noted that the process of returning the bodies was the result of their joint work with the Security Service of Ukraine, the Armed Forces of Ukraine, the Ministry of Internal Affairs, the State Emergency Service, the Office of the Ombudsman for Human Rights, as well as the Secretariat of the Commissioner for Missing Persons. The headquarters expressed gratitude for the assistance of the International Committee of the Red Cross.
Special thanks were given to the units of the Armed Forces of Ukraine involved in transporting the bodies to specialized institutions, as well as organizing their transfer to law enforcement investigators and forensic examinations. It is these services, together with experts from the Ministry of Internal Affairs, that are tasked with identifying the deceased as quickly as possible.
