The Verkhovna Rada appointed Sviridenko as Prime Minister
The Verkhovna Rada appointed Yulia Sviridenko as the new Prime Minister of Ukraine after the resignation of Denys Shmyhal. Previously, President Volodymyr Zelensky submitted a draft resolution on her appointment.

The Verkhovna Rada appointed Yulia Sviridenko as the new Prime Minister of Ukraine, reports UNN.

262 People's Deputies voted in favor of Sviridenko's appointment.

What is known about Sviridenko

Yulia Sviridenko was born in Chernihiv on December 25, 1985. In 2008, she graduated with honors from Kyiv National University of Trade and Economics.

That same year, she began working as an economist in the financial department of the Ukrainian-Andorran joint venture JSC "AMP", which was engaged in real estate. In 2011, Sviridenko left the company due to her appointment as head of the Permanent Representation of Chernihiv City in Usi (China).

While holding this position, Sviridenko was responsible for attracting Chinese investments to Ukraine.

Public Service

Sviridenko's career as a civil servant started in 2015. She then became an advisor to the head of the Chernihiv Regional State Administration. In August of the same year, she became head of the Department of Economic Development, and from 2017, she served as the First Deputy Head of the Regional State Administration.

In 2019, Sviridenko joined the Ministry of Economy as Deputy Minister, and from 2020, she became the First Deputy Minister. In this position, Sviridenko was responsible for policies in labor, employment, industry, and pricing.

In December 2020, she moved to the Office of the President, where she held the position of Deputy Head and dealt with economic issues and investor relations. At the same time, Sviridenko headed the Business Facilitation Council established by President Zelensky.

On November 4, 2021, she was appointed First Vice Prime Minister and Minister of Economy of Ukraine.

Personal Life

Yulia Sviridenko is married. Her husband, Serhiy Derlemenko, also ran for the Chernihiv City Council in 2015. The couple has a daughter. Sviridenko's father was the head of the Chernihiv Territorial Department of the Antimonopoly Committee of Ukraine, and her mother worked in the regional council's apparatus.

Among other things, Yulia Sviridenko speaks Chinese.
