The Verkhovna Rada adopted bill No. 12414, which regulates the activities of NABU and SAP.
This was reported by RBC-Ukraine citing the website of the Verkhovna Rada.
The relevant bill, after discussions in parliament and attempts by some deputies to block the rostrum to prevent its adoption, was supported in the session hall, with 263 deputies voting in favor.
The bill provides for the following innovations:
-
The Prosecutor General will have access to all criminal proceedings of NABU;
-
The Prosecutor General will also be able to give mandatory instructions to detectives and change the jurisdiction of cases;
-
The Prosecutor General will have the right to close proceedings based on motions from the defense;
-
The Prosecutor General will be able to personally sign suspicion notices for high-ranking officials;
-
The head of SAP will lose the right to independently join the prosecutor group; this decision will now be made solely by the Prosecutor General.
