Russia's casualties in the war against Ukraine have exceeded 1.34 million troops
As of 12 May 2026, the total combat losses of Russian forces since the start of the full-scale invasion of Ukraine stand at approximately 1,343,050 personnel. Over the past 24 hours, Russian losses amounted to 1,020 military personnel.
This was reported by the General Staff of the Armed Forces of Ukraine.
According to the General Staff, the Russian army has also lost:
- 11,926 tanks, with 2 units destroyed in the past 24 hours
- 24,553 armoured fighting vehicles, 2 units over the past 24 hours
- 41,935 artillery systems, 72 units in the past 24 hours
- 1,785 multiple launch rocket systems, 2 units destroyed in the past 24 hours
- 1,373 air defence systems
- 435 aircraft
- 352 helicopters
- 1,373 ground-based robotic systems, 2 units per day
- 285,506 tactical-level unmanned aerial vehicles, 1,252 units per day
- 4,585 cruise missiles
- 33 ships and boats
- 2 submarines
- 95,855 vehicles and tankers, 145 units per day
- 4,179 units of specialist equipment, 1 unit per day.
The General Staff noted that the figures are being updated.
Also, the day before, Viktor Tregubov, spokesperson for the ‘Khortytsia’ operational-strategic group of forces, stated that Russia had already launched its spring-summer offensive, with armoured vehicles being used only sparingly.
