Unusual activity has been detected on the border with Belarus, and the Ukrainian Armed Forces are preparing appropriate countermeasures

Volodymyr Zelenskyy reported this in his video address.

Border services and intelligence have recorded increased activity by Belarusian forces in certain sections of the border. The President stressed that the situation is under close control and that the Defence Forces are ready to defend the country’s sovereignty in the event of any aggressive actions. Volodymyr Zelenskyy emphasised that anyone who is being drawn into provocations against Ukraine must be aware of the consequences.

New sanctions and strengthening of air defence

In addition to the security situation in the north, the Head of State outlined the following priorities:

Sanctions pressure: several new packages of restrictions against the aggressor have been put into effect.
Diplomatic efforts: negotiations are ongoing with European and Middle Eastern countries regarding the strengthening of Ukraine’s air defence.
Expectations for May: following this month’s international meetings, significant decisions are anticipated that will strengthen the state’s military and economic power.

According to the President, the main focus is currently on providing the Armed Forces with the necessary resources to defend the skies and territorial integrity.
