Zelenskyy has reported over 1,800 breaches of the ceasefire by Russia
President Volodymyr Zelenskyy has stated that the Russian army has committed 1,820 violations of the ceasefire. These include shelling, attempted assaults, air strikes and the use of drones.
The head of state announced this on Telegram. According to him, the Russian side has violated the ceasefire.
“As of today, we can confirm that the Russian side has violated the ceasefire. Based on reports from our military and intelligence services, we will determine our next steps,” said Volodymyr Zelenskyy.
The President reported that following strikes on Dnipro, Zaporizhzhia, Kramatorsk and other cities, the Russian army continued active combat operations throughout the day.
According to him, assault operations are ongoing in key sectors of the front. Since the start of the day, Russian troops have carried out nearly 30 assaults. Over 20 air strikes were recorded during the night and morning, involving more than 70 aerial bombs.
Russia also deployed various types of drones throughout the night. Ukrainian defence forces neutralised nearly 90 attack drones. In addition, missile strikes were recorded.
Volodymyr Zelenskyy noted that Ukraine had previously announced reciprocal measures in response to Russia’s call for a ceasefire.
“It is obvious to all decent people that a full-scale war and the daily killing of people make this a bad time for public celebrations. Russia must end the war it is currently waging. Our diplomatic proposals are with the Russian side, and the only thing needed is Russia’s willingness to move towards real peace,” the head of state emphasised.
It was previously reported that Ukraine had declared a ceasefire from 6 May, despite the absence of any official signals from Russia regarding the cessation of hostilities.
On the same day, two drones were reported to have struck a nursery school building in the centre of Sumy. In Kharkiv’s Novobavarskyi district, two people were injured and a fire broke out as a result of an attack.
According to the Ukrainian Air Force, air defence forces shot down 89 out of 108 drones used by Russian troops to attack Ukraine from the evening of 5 May.
