Zelenskyy met with Palantir’s CEO: Ukraine is expanding the use of AI in the war
This was reported by Reuters, citing statements by Volodymyr Zelenskyy and Ukraine’s Defence Minister Mykhailo Fedorov.
On 12 May, President Volodymyr Zelenskyy met with Alex Karp, CEO of Palantir Technologies.
The meeting took place in Kyiv against the backdrop of Ukraine’s expanding use of artificial intelligence in the war against Russia.
According to Reuters, Kyiv has launched the Brave1 Dataroom project with Palantir. Its aim is to develop AI-based solutions using combat data that Ukraine has been collecting since the start of Russia’s full-scale invasion in 2022.
This data is intended to assist, in particular, in intercepting Russian drones.
Following a meeting with Karp, Ukraine’s Defence Minister Mykhailo Fedorov stated that technology, AI, data analysis and the “mathematics of war” have a direct impact on the outcome on the battlefield.
“Today, technology, AI, data analysis and the mathematics of war have a direct impact on the outcome on the battlefield,” Fedorov wrote on Telegram.
According to the minister, over 100 companies are training more than 80 models to detect and intercept aerial targets.
Fedorov also reported that, as part of its cooperation with Palantir, Ukraine has developed a system for detailed analysis of air strikes.
In addition, AI solutions have been implemented to handle large volumes of intelligence data.
These technologies have also been integrated into the planning of Ukrainian deep strike operations.
Zelenskyy stated on social media platform X that Palantir is a well-known global company with significant potential.
According to him, there are areas where Ukraine and Palantir can be of mutual benefit, strengthening the defence of Ukraine, the US and their partners.
The President added that during the meeting, the parties discussed areas of technological development – both in the context of military operations and for civilian needs.
