Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy held a meeting with King Abdullah II of Jordan in Amman. The two leaders discussed a potential partnership in the field of security, particularly regarding protection against drone and missile attacks.

This was reported on the website of the President of Ukraine.

During the meeting, Volodymyr Zelenskyy stated that Ukraine is open to cooperation to protect against drone and missile strikes.

“Ukraine is open to cooperation to defend against drone and missile strikes. The reality is that the war is changing, and therefore technology must be constantly adapted to new challenges on the battlefield. From our own experience, we know that without a unified system, it is simply impossible to provide full protection for people and critical infrastructure,” the President noted.

The Head of State emphasised that Ukraine possesses such a system, as it has been forced to withstand constant Russian attacks – including those using Iranian drones – for the fifth year of full-scale war.

“Russia is simply refining its weapons of destruction, whilst we must refine our defence solutions. And it is vital that those to whom we offer our expertise are also able to help us strengthen our defences,” Volodymyr Zelenskyy emphasised.

What else was discussed during the talks in Amman

Volodymyr Zelenskyy and Abdullah II discussed in detail the situation in the Middle East and the Gulf region.

The President of Ukraine stressed that Ukraine condemns the attacks from Iran and the fact that this war and crisis have also reached Jordan.

As noted, earlier Volodymyr Zelenskyy held a meeting with the President of the United Arab Emirates, Mohammed bin Zayed Al Nahyan.

During those talks, the parties discussed the security situation in the region, in particular the strikes from Iran and the risks of the Strait of Hormuz being blocked, which affects the global oil market.

It is worth recalling that Ukraine and the United Arab Emirates are taking their defence cooperation to a new level. President Volodymyr Zelenskyy held talks with Mohammed bin Zayed Al Nahyan, during which he offered his partners unique expertise in air defence.
