Zelensky named candidates for the position of Head of the Presidential Office
President Volodymyr Zelenskyy announced that he is consulting on candidates for the new head of the Office of the President. According to him, five names are being considered: Prime Minister Denys Shmyhal, Deputy Prime Minister Mykhailo Fedorov, Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs Serhiy Kyslytsya, Head of the Main Intelligence Directorate Kyrylo Budanov, and Deputy Head of the Office of the President Pavlo Palisa.
Zelensky explained that appointing members of the government could create procedural difficulties, as ministers would have to be dismissed from their posts before the vote in parliament. He compared the situation to a game where one incorrectly placed piece could disrupt the entire structure.
The head of state noted that each of the candidates has strengths. Kyslytsya is actively working in the diplomatic field, Budanov and Palisa have significant military experience, and Shmyhal and Fedorov are key figures in the government.
The decision on the appointments has not yet been made, and consultations are ongoing.
