Zelensky appointed a new commander of the Air Forces
President Volodymyr Zelensky appointed Lieutenant General Anatoliy Kryvonozhko as Commander of the Air Forces of the Armed Forces of Ukraine on Sunday, August 3.

«Today, I appointed Lieutenant General Anatolii Kryvonozhko as the Commander of the Air Forces of the Armed Forces of Ukraine. And most importantly, that Ukrainian combat aviation and air defense forces continue to develop comprehensively and in effective interaction», – noted Zelensky.

It is known that from 2006 to 2008 Kryvonozhko was the commander of the 114th Tactical Aviation Brigade based in Ivano-Frankivsk. Later, he held the position of Deputy Commander of the Air Force of the Armed Forces of Ukraine.

In 2015, Kryvonozhko was appointed Commander of the "Center" Air Command, a position he held until August 30, 2025, when he was appointed Acting Commander of the Air Forces of the Armed Forces of Ukraine.

Kryvonozhko holds the title of Hero of Ukraine with the Order of the "Golden Star," the Order of Bohdan Khmelnytsky II and III degrees, as well as the Order of Danylo Halytskyi.

On August 30, Zelensky dismissed the Commander of the Air Forces of the Armed Forces of Ukraine, Mykola Oleshchuk.
