Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy has stated that Russia is attempting to drag Belarus into the war and may be preparing new aggressive actions from its territory

The head of state announced this on his official Telegram channel.

Ukraine will reinforce the Chernihiv-Kyiv axis

According to Zelenskyy, the Ukrainian authorities have information about negotiations between Russia and the Belarusian leadership. The President stated that Moscow allegedly seeks to use Belarusian territory for new operations — either against the Chernihiv-Kyiv axis or against one of the NATO countries bordering Belarus.

“They want to draw Belarus much deeper into the war and launch further aggressive operations from Belarusian territory,” Zelenskyy said.

He reported that he had instructed the Ukrainian Defence and Security Forces to prepare a response plan for potential threats. According to the president, this issue will be discussed at a meeting of the Supreme Commander-in-Chief’s Headquarters. Zelenskyy also noted that Ukraine would strengthen its defences along the Chernihiv-Kyiv axis, and that international partners had already been informed of the situation.

Zelenskyy announced plans for strikes on Kyiv

Separately, Zelenskyy mentioned documents which, he said, are in the possession of the Ukrainian side. They allegedly contain proposals for strikes on Kyiv and other cities in Ukraine. These involve possible attacks on political and military facilities, as well as locations where the state leadership may be present. The President also noted that following the events surrounding Iran, the Russian side has once again stepped up its intelligence-gathering on representatives of the Ukrainian government, army and security services.

“Ukrainians will never surrender their independence,” Zelenskyy wrote, commenting on possible pressure from Russia.
