During tests in Florida, a rocket belonging to Blue Origin, the company owned by businessman Jeff Bezos, exploded right on the launch pad.

This is reported by the BBC and The Guardian.

The explosion occurred at around 9 pm local time during tests ahead of an upcoming launch. Blue Origin itself reported that it was conducting a hot-fire test when an ‘anomaly’ occurred. All company personnel are safe.

“It’s too early to know the root cause, but we’re already working to find it. A very tough day, but we’ll rebuild whatever needs rebuilding and get back to flying. It’s worth it,” Bezos himself wrote.

The US Space Force stated that rescue teams are working at the scene, and officials are collaborating with Blue Origin to assess the available data and determine the exact cause of the incident.

According to the county’s Emergency Management Agency, there is no threat to the public as a result of the explosion.

Meanwhile, shockwaves from the explosion were felt along Florida’s Atlantic coast, and residents of South Carolina, hundreds of miles to the north, reported seeing a glow in the sky.
