A Russian aircraft dropped a high-explosive bomb on a railway line near Belgorod during a combat mission — media reports
This has been reported by the Russian Telegram channel MNS, citing its own sources.
According to them, the aerial bomb (FAB-500) did not detonate, but destroyed around 25 metres of railway track.
Vyacheslav Gladkov, former head of the Belgorod Region, stated that the commuter train travelling on the Razumne–Tomarivka route derailed due to a gap of around two metres in the track.
He also noted that there were 15 people on board the train at the time of the accident; one woman was injured and hospitalised with a leg injury and bruises.
It is reported that Gladkov initially wrote that the derailment could have been caused by the railway tracks being blown up, but he later deleted any mention of this version. On 14 May, he announced that he was stepping down as governor of the Belgorod region.
According to MNS, Russian Defence Ministry bomb disposal experts were sent to the scene. They allegedly removed the munition to defuse it at a testing ground.
