A security guard at a university in the capital was directing Russian strikes on Kyiv and the Donetsk region — SBU
This was reported by the SBU press office.
According to the investigation, the man was recruited through his sister, who lives in Russia. She subsequently acted as a ‘liaison’ — it was through her that the man passed on the coordinates to the Russians.
According to the case file, the enemy’s priority targets were thermal power stations and other energy infrastructure facilities in Kyiv. The agent drove around the city, recording air strikes, marking their geolocation on Google Maps and photographing the destruction.
He also gathered data on the deployment of reserve command posts and combat positions of the Ukrainian Armed Forces in the Donetsk region, subtly questioning acquaintances about the situation on the eastern front.
Law enforcement officers arrested the man at his home in the Kyiv region. During a search, they seized a smartphone containing evidence of espionage.
He was informed of the charges against him under Part 2 of Article 111 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine — high treason committed under martial law. The man was remanded in custody without the right to bail. He faces life imprisonment with confiscation of property.
