The State Bureau of Investigation has concluded its investigation into a former SSU officer from the Viktor Yanukovych era who is working for the occupying authorities
Officers from the State Bureau of Investigation, with the assistance of the Security Service of Ukraine, have completed a pre-trial investigation into the former head of one of the SBU’s departments during Viktor Yanukovych’s time in office.
The indictment has already been sent to court.
According to the investigation, the former law enforcement officer has been on an international wanted list since 2014 for treason and involvement in the dispersal of Euromaidan activists.
The SBI noted that in 2022 he voluntarily agreed to cooperate with the occupying authorities in the temporarily occupied territory of Zaporizhzhia Oblast and took up a senior position in the so-called ‘State Security Service’. The indictment relating to this episode has already been submitted to the court.
The new charges relate to events in 2024. According to the investigation, the man took up the post of so-called “deputy governor of Zaporizhzhia Oblast”, where he performed administrative, economic, organisational and managerial functions.
The Office of the Prosecutor General is overseeing the proceedings in the case.
