Екстрене повернення з орбіти: астронавти МКС достроково приземлилися через медичний інцидент
Four astronauts from the International Space Station successfully returned to Earth ahead of schedule after a decision was made to end the mission early. The reason was a serious medical condition affecting one of the crew members, about which NASA has not yet disclosed any details, according to Sky News.
The SpaceX spacecraft made a night landing in the Pacific Ocean near San Diego on Thursday, 15 January. Less than 11 hours passed between undocking from the ISS and landing, making it the fastest return in similar conditions.
According to NASA Administrator Jared Isaacman, all crew members are safe and feeling well. After splashdown, the astronauts were taken to a hospital for standard medical examination and observation overnight.
NASA Deputy Administrator Joel Montalban said the decision to bring the Crew-11 crew back early was made about a week ago after assessing the astronaut's health. The agency is not disclosing the name of the crew member or the nature of the medical issue, citing confidentiality, but assures that there is no threat to life.
This is the first emergency return of a crew from the ISS in history, highlighting the importance of space agencies' preparedness for unforeseen situations even in orbit.
