Erdogan called to resume the Istanbul negotiations between Ukraine and Russia
Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan stated that he supports the resumption of negotiations between Ukraine and Russia in Istanbul and proposes to expand their agenda. He announced this after meeting with Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky in Ankara, writes "European Truth".
Erdoğan said that Turkey has hosted three rounds of negotiations between Ukraine and Russia, during which, according to him, the parties "managed to achieve some progress, particularly on humanitarian issues." The Turkish President noted that during the talks, delegations also had the opportunity to directly discuss issues of ceasefire, peace, and other military aspects.
"We consider all these steps as valuable achievements," — Erdoğan said. He added that during the meeting with Zelensky, he advocated for the continuation of the "Istanbul process" with a "pragmatic and results-oriented approach."
According to Erdoğan, Turkey considers it appropriate for this process to "resume with broader content and aimed at resolving problems that have already taken on a critical nature."
Meanwhile, it became known that the Trump administration is secretly working in consultations with Russia on developing a new plan to end the war in Ukraine. This plan, consisting of 28 points, as American and Russian officials told Axios, was inspired by the successful advancement of President Trump’s deal regarding Gaza. A high-ranking Russian official told Axios that he is optimistic about this plan. At the same time, it is unclear how Ukraine and its European allies will react to the plan.
