France and England will play for the bronze medals at the 2026 World Cup
The third-place play-off at the 2026 World Cup between France and England will take place on 19 July at Hard Rock Stadium in Miami, Florida, USA. The match is scheduled to kick off at 00:00 Kyiv time.

Both teams were defeated in the tournament’s semi-finals. France lost 0–2 to Spain, whilst England, having led 1–0 against Argentina, went on to lose 1–2.
For France, this will be their fourth World Cup bronze medal match. The French have previously won such matches twice, defeating West Germany 6–3 in 1958 and Belgium 4–2 in 1986. In 1982, France lost 2–3 to Poland.
The England national team will be playing in the World Cup third-place play-off for the third time. Their two previous attempts ended in defeat. In 1990, England lost 1–2 to Italy, and in 2018 they lost 0–2 to Belgium.
The two sides have faced each other 42 times in their history. England have won 24 matches, France have won 12, and the remaining six matches ended in draws. The teams last met in the quarter-finals of the 2022 World Cup, when France won 2–1.
Bookmakers consider the French national team to be the favourites for the match. The odds for a French victory are 1.90, for an England win 3.95, and for a draw in normal time 3.99. Bookmakers’ analysts consider a 2–1 victory for France to be the most likely outcome, with odds of 7.81.
