Head of the SBU Vasyl Maliuk announced the elimination of FSB hitmen
Employees of the Security Service of Ukraine eliminated two agents of Russian special services, who recently in Kyiv killed Colonel Ivan Voronych.

In a widely circulated video by the SBU press service, Maluk comments on the operation to detain Russian agents, which was carried out with the assistance of the Criminal Investigation Department of the National Police.

"This morning, the SBU conducted the detention of an FSB RF intelligence and combat group, who were routed (directed, - Ed.) in advance to Ukraine and three days ago committed the murder of SBU officer, Colonel Vornich Ivan Ivanovich - our glorious comrade," - stated the head of the service.

According to him, during the detention, the suspects began to resist, a gunfight ensued, and they were eliminated.

According to the investigation, the murder of the Ukrainian colonel was carried out by two individuals - a man and a woman. Their curator ordered them to monitor Vornich, establish his daily schedule and routes of movement. Later, the curator provided the killers with the coordinates of the cache where a pistol with a silencer was located.

After killing the Security Service colonel, the killers tried to "lay low," but SBU and National Police officers identified their whereabouts in the Kyiv region.

Recall: on Thursday, July 10, Russian special services agents killed an SBU officer in the Holosiivskyi district of Kyiv. A criminal proceeding was opened on this fact under Article 348 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine (attempt on the life of a law enforcement officer, a member of a public formation for the protection of public order and the state border, or a serviceman).

The New York Times reported that Ivan Vornich headed a unit that advanced into the Kursk region in 2024. He also led the group that eliminated pro-Russian militant Arseniy Pavlov ("Motorola").

On July 11 on the Lviv City Council website published information about the funeral of Ivan Vornich, as well as a biographical note about the fallen officer.
