President of Ukraine Volodymyr Zelenskyy has announced that Interior Minister Ihor Klymenko will soon submit candidates for the post of the new head of the State Border Guard Service of Ukraine.

According to the head of state, the current head of the service, Serhiy Deineko, will continue to work in the system of the Ministry of Internal Affairs of Ukraine. Zelenskyy listened to Klymenko's report and thanked him for the well-coordinated work of the entire Ministry of Internal Affairs system, separately discussing the activities of border guards.

The President noted that for more than six years under Deineck's leadership, the SBGS has been significantly strengthened. The service's units, along with other components of the Defence Forces, are defending Ukraine on the frontline, and the border with Belarus and Russia has been further strengthened. At the same time, Zelenskyy emphasised the need for changes in approaches to the SBGS.
