Crossover for "reservation": Rivne region exposes corruption scheme in regional shopping centre
In Rivne region, law enforcement officers served a notice of suspicion to an official of the regional territorial centre for recruitment and social support, who is suspected of extortion and receiving an unlawful benefit in the form of a car. This is reported by the Office of the Prosecutor General.
According to the official statement of the prosecutor's office, in December 2025, the official organised a scheme whereby he demanded that a conscript pay most of the cost of a 2013 Toyota Highlander crossover through an intermediary. In return, the man was promised removal from the "Oberih" register and guarantees of non-conscription during general mobilisation.
According to the investigation, the amount of the unlawful benefit was USD 12 thousand. The car was registered in the name of a fictitious person, but in fact it was used by the suspect himself. After the transfer of the vehicle, the person liable for military service was actually taken off the wanted list.
The lieutenant colonel was served a notice of suspicion under Part 3 of Art. 368 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine. The court imposed on him a measure of restraint in the form of detention with an alternative bail in excess of UAH 2 million.
