April weather: where temperatures ‘plummeted’ to -10°C
According to information from the Carpathian mountain rescue service (published on Facebook), the weather on Mount Pip Ivan Chornohirskyi was clear as of the morning of 27 April 2026.
A westerly wind was observed there, blowing at a speed of 5 metres per second.
Meanwhile, the air temperature on one of the highest peaks of the Ukrainian Carpathians (2,028.5 m) was recorded at -10°C.
Judging by the photo released by the rescuers, there is still a considerable amount of snow there.
In which cities were temperature records set
Experts from the Lviv Regional Centre for Hydrometeorology reported on yet another temperature record in Lviv.
It is reported that on 27 April, the minimum air temperature in Lviv was -5.3°C.
It is noted that the previous lowest temperature for this day
- was recorded in 1954;
- was -2.2°C.
Another temperature record was also reported by the Transcarpathian Regional Centre for Hydrometeorology. It was recorded in the city of Uzhhorod.
On 27 April, the minimum air temperature in Uzhhorod was -2.2°C.
"This is 1.2°C lower than the previous minimum for this day over the entire observation period," experts noted.
It is noted that the previous record:
- was recorded in 1948;
- was -1.0°C.
As a reminder, it was previously reported that unstable weather with hazardous meteorological phenomena will persist in Ukraine in the coming days. Strong gusts of wind, with snow and ground frost in places, are forecast for the northern, eastern and central regions.
