Oleg Lyashko, a former MP and leader of the Radical Party, has been appointed commander of the 432nd Separate Unmanned Systems Regiment of the 11th Army Corps of the ‘East’ Operational Command. Prior to this, he commanded an unmanned systems battalion in the 63rd Separate Mechanised Brigade.

This has been reported by “Ukrainska Pravda”, citing informed sources within the Defence Forces.

Oleg Lyashko has been appointed commander of the 432nd Separate Unmanned Systems Regiment of the 11th Army Corps of the “East” Operational Command.

According to “Ukrainska Pravda” sources within the Defence Forces, the relevant decision was taken by the command of the Ukrainian Armed Forces’ Land Forces on 6 May 2026.

Prior to this, Senior Lieutenant Oleg Lyashko held the post of commander of the unmanned systems battalion of the 63rd Separate Mechanised Brigade of the 3rd Army Corps of the “East” Operational Command.

He was relieved of this post, the rank of which corresponded to that of “lieutenant colonel”.

Following this, Lyashko was appointed commander of the 432nd Separate Unmanned Systems Regiment of the 11th Army Corps of the “East” Operational Command.

The rank of this new post is “colonel”.

At the same time, according to a source speaking to “Ukrainska Pravda”, there is no question of Lyashko being awarded the military rank of colonel.

What happened previously

In late April 2026, reports emerged in the media that the unmanned systems battalion of the 63rd Mechanised Brigade, commanded by Lyashko, might be expanded into a regiment.

On 11 October 2024, Oleg Lyashko was appointed commander of the unmanned systems battalion of a separate mechanised brigade.

The Army explained at the time that the appointment of the leader of the “Radical Party” and former MP to this post was linked to his successes in the field of unmanned systems.

As reported by ThePublic, the Air Force is forming a small air defence command: Colonel Khlibnikov has been appointed to head the unit.
