Only 7% of Americans support a US ground operation in Iran
The war between the US and Israel against Iran has been going on for almost three weeks
An overwhelming majority of Americans believe that US President Donald Trump will order a ground military operation in Iran, yet few support such a move.

This is according to a Reuters/Ipsos poll.

Around 65% of Americans believe that US President Donald Trump will order the deployment of troops to Iran to carry out ground operations, yet only 7% support this idea.

The three-day poll showed that Trump’s overall approval rating among the public remained virtually unchanged at 40%. This is 1 percentage point higher than the Reuters/Ipsos poll showed immediately after the US and Israel launched their operation against Iran on 28 February.

Since the US and Israel attacked Iran nearly three weeks ago, and Iran struck back, more than 2,000 people have been killed in the Middle East. Among the dead are 13 American servicemen.

The day before, Trump, responding to a journalist’s question about his plans, stated that he was “not sending troops anywhere”, adding: “If I were doing that, I certainly wouldn’t be telling you about it.”

According to media reports, the Pentagon is accelerating the deployment of several thousand more troops to the Middle East.
