The magnetic storm on 4 May 2026: how weather-sensitive people will be affected
A moderate geomagnetic storm is forecast for Ukraine on Sunday, 4 May 2026.
Experts warn that geomagnetic fluctuations may affect the well-being of people who are sensitive to changes in space weather.
As of 2 May, the Kp geomagnetic activity index stood at 2.
This corresponds to weak fluctuations.
However, an increase in activity to level 3 is forecast for 3–4 May.
According to experts, such a magnetic storm is considered moderate.
At the same time, even moderate geomagnetic fluctuations can affect people who are sensitive to weather changes.
Possible symptoms include fatigue, headaches, drowsiness, irritability and sleep problems.
A stronger magnetic storm is expected on 7 May
Space weather forecasters predict an increase in geomagnetic activity as early as 7 May.
On this day, the activity level could rise to Kp 5.
This level corresponds to a strong magnetic storm.
Increased solar activity is also expected in mid-May.
According to preliminary forecasts, new level 5 magnetic storms are possible on 15–16 May.
How to minimise the impact of a magnetic storm
On days of increased geomagnetic activity, experts advise paying closer attention to how you feel.
It is recommended to drink more water.
It is also advisable to limit your intake of coffee and alcohol.
During this period, it is advisable to avoid stress and overexertion.
Experts advise spending more time outdoors.
They also recommend sticking to a regular sleep schedule.
During magnetic storms, it is also advised to avoid excessive physical and emotional strain.
As reported by ThePublic, once the season of regular power cuts is over, charging stations are often put away in a cupboard, on the balcony or in the garage until they are needed again. However, incorrect storage can damage the battery, reduce its capacity or render the device completely unusable.
