Overnight, Russia launched a large-scale missile and drone attack on several regions of Ukraine, resulting in casualties, injuries and extensive damage.

On the night of 14 March, Russian forces launched another large-scale missile and drone attack on Ukraine. Kyiv and the Kyiv region, as well as the Kharkiv, Sumy and Zaporizhzhia regions and other areas, came under fire. The strikes resulted in casualties, injuries and damage to infrastructure.

Kyiv and the Kyiv region

According to local authorities, as of 08:00, four deaths had been confirmed in the Kyiv region, with a further 15 people injured. Three of the injured are in a critical condition; two were undergoing surgery at the time of the morning update.

In Brovary, three people were killed in the attack and eight others were injured.

In the Vyshhorod district, one man was killed and two others were hospitalised.

Mykola Kalashnyk, Head of the Kyiv Regional Military Administration (Kyiv RMA), reported that the most damage was recorded in the Obukhiv and Brovary districts. Preliminary reports indicate around 30 damaged buildings.

According to eyewitnesses, during the strike in Brovary, residents were forced to leave their homes and run into the streets to escape the shelling.

Zaporizhzhia region

According to Ivan Fedorov, head of the Zaporizhzhia Regional Military Administration (Zaporizhzhia RMA), one person was killed and seven others were injured. Among the injured are two children.

Kharkiv region

In the Kharkiv region, one person was killed and 11 others were injured as a result of the shelling, including two children.

Oleg Synyegubov, head of the Kharkiv Regional Military Administration (Kharkiv RMA), clarified that:

  • a 12-year-old boy was injured in the village of Solonytsivka;
  • in the town of Derhachi, a 42-year-old woman and a 9-year-old boy were injured;
  • in the village of Nova Oleksandrivka, Velykoburlutskyi community, a 50-year-old man was killed, and women aged 44, 53 and 59, as well as a 72-year-old man, were injured;
  • in the village of Vodyane, Krasnokutsk community, men aged 50, 57, 38 and 19 were injured.

In addition, a Russian drone struck a commuter train in the region. As a result of the strike, the driver and his assistant sustained shrapnel wounds.

According to preliminary data from the State Emergency Service of Ukraine (SES), a total of four people were injured as a result of this incident.

Dnipropetrovsk region

Overnight, the Dnipropetrovsk region came under more than ten attacks, during which Russian forces used drones and artillery. According to preliminary information, there were no casualties.

In the Kryvyi Rih district, a drone struck the railway station area. The impact damaged a locomotive. The locomotive crew had been evacuated in time, so no one was injured.

Power cuts

Following the night-time attack, some regions of Ukraine switched to emergency power cuts.

In particular, power cuts have been reported in Kyiv and some districts of the Kyiv region, as well as in the Chernihiv, Cherkasy and Khmelnytskyi regions.

Due to shelling, electric transport services were temporarily suspended in some parts of the capital.
