Melania Trump spoke at the UN, calling for peace through education
This was reported by Ukrinform's correspondent in New York.
During her speech, Trump emphasised that "lasting peace will be achieved when knowledge and understanding are fully valued in all our societies."
According to her, a state that makes education "sacred" and protects "its books, language, science and mathematics" is in fact protecting its own future.
She stressed that education is a fundamental human right, but today many children and young people are deprived of the opportunity to study in schools and universities. A society that excludes a significant part of the population from access to knowledge "can only realise part of its potential," she said.
Melania Trump paid special attention to technology. According to her, the global community must ensure full access to digital tools so that every person can realise their potential through education.
She cited data showing that today, approximately 6 billion people — about 70% of the world's population — use mobile devices and the internet. According to her, combining the efforts of different countries will help bridge the technological divide.
The First Lady also focused on the role of artificial intelligence. She stated that AI "democratises knowledge" that was previously concentrated in university libraries and opens up access to information to people anywhere in the world.
"Conflict arises from ignorance. Knowledge creates understanding, replacing fear with peace and unity," Trump emphasised.
As previously reported, UN Under-Secretary-General for Political Affairs Rosemary DiCarlo thanked Melania Trump for her personal involvement in reuniting Ukrainian children with their families.
