The newly appointed leader outlined the key achievements of wartime and announced large-scale reforms, an anti-corruption course and technological strengthening of the army.

The Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine, upon the proposal of President Volodymyr Zelenskyi, decided to appoint Mykhailo Fedorov as Minister of Defence of Ukraine. A total of 277 people's deputies voted in favour of the nominee

After his appointment, Mykhailo Fedorov spoke in parliament, summarising key achievements in the defence sector during the full-scale invasion and presenting his vision for the further development of the security sector.

Among the main results, he noted the transfer of about 50 thousand Starlink terminals from international partners to Ukraine, the launch of the "Army of Drones" initiative, the creation of strike companies of unmanned aerial systems (RUBpAK), deregulation and opening of markets for manufacturers of drones, EW, ground robotic systems and missile systems.

Fedorov also mentioned the development of the Brave1 defence innovation cluster, which currently unites more than 2,350 companies and almost 4,900 developments. The programme has provided over 730 grants totalling more than UAH 2.6 billion. Other achievements include the launch of the e-Points system and the Drone Line initiative.

In his new position, Mykhailo Fedorov has identified several strategic priorities: conducting a deep army reform, improving infrastructure on the front line, systematically eradicating corruption risks, and developing leadership and trust as the basis for a new management culture in the defence ministry.

According to him, the President has set a clear task - to create a system capable of stopping the enemy in the air and on the ground, strengthening asymmetric and cyber strikes, and making the cost of war economically unbearable for Russia.

In addition, the new minister named training of Ukrainian servicemen, improving their financial and social security, deepening cooperation with international partners and developing the defence industry as areas of work.

Mykhailo Fedorov emphasised that anti-corruption policy will become the foundation of the renewed Ministry of Defence. One of the first practical solutions, he said, is to ensure a basic level of manning combat brigades with drones, the shortage of which remains critical.
