A museum for everyone: The National Museum of Ukrainian History launches an inclusive educational course
The National Museum of Ukrainian History has announced the launch of an educational project on inclusive practices called "A Museum for Everyone," which will begin on 26 February. Its key goal is to teach cultural professionals how to work with different audiences so that the museum is accessible and open to everyone without exception.
The course programme is aimed at museum workers, tour guides, educators, cultural managers, representatives of public organisations, and anyone who interacts with people in their work. Participants will focus not only on the theory of inclusion, but also on practical tools for everyday work.
During the training, participants will learn approaches to interacting with veterans and military personnel, effective communication with people with visual and hearing impairments, adapting programmes for visitors with intellectual disabilities, and working with children of different ages. Special emphasis will be placed on the ethical discussion of complex topics related to history and war, proper communication with people with special speech needs, and the implementation of universal design principles in the museum environment.
Training will take place once a week on weekdays from 13:00 to 17:30 and will last until early April. The project offers two formats of participation — offline and online. Face-to-face classes will be held at the museum at 2 Volodymyrska Street, with a limited number of places available. Online participation is available after registration — after submitting an application, the organisers will contact participants to clarify the details.
Selection for the course will be based on the results of an interview. Participation in the project is free of charge, and upon completion of the course, all participants will receive a certificate.
The project coordinator is Svitlana Slastennykova, contact email: [email protected].
