Sunny weather in Kyiv: a high-pressure system, a rise in temperatures and a fire risk on 6 May 2026
On 6 May, Kyiv and the surrounding region will be under the influence of a high-pressure system, bringing dry, clear and very warm weather. At the same time, forecasters are warning of an extreme fire risk in the Kyiv region.

This is according to the Ukrainian Hydrometeorological Centre and the forecast by meteorologist Natalia Didenko.

Over the next 24 hours, Kyiv and the Kyiv region will be under the influence of a powerful anticyclone. It will bring partly cloudy, dry and warm weather with no precipitation.

According to the Ukrainian Hydrometeorological Centre, the weather situation in the region from 5 to 9 May will have two phases. In the early days, thanks to the anticyclone and warm air masses from the Balkans, sunny weather will persist in the capital and the region.

Daytime temperatures will range from +22° to +27°, and night-time temperatures from +10° to +15°C.

Weather in Kyiv and the region on 6 May

On 6 May, partly cloudy weather with no precipitation is forecast for the Kyiv region. The wind will be south-westerly, 5–10 m/s.

Temperatures in the region will range from +8° to +13° at night and from +24° to +29° during the day.

In Kyiv, temperatures are expected to range from +11° to +13° at night and from +27° to +29° during the day.

Extreme fire danger

Forecasters have issued a separate warning about the fire risk in the Kyiv region.

“6–8 May: extreme fire danger. Weather conditions will contribute to a high probability of fires starting and spreading in ecosystems in the presence of ignition sources (open flames),” the statement reads.

According to forecaster Natalia Didenko, dry and sunny weather is also expected in the capital on 6 May. The air temperature in Kyiv will reach up to +26°C.

When will the rain come?

From 8–9 May, the weather will begin to change due to a western atmospheric front.

Cloudy conditions, short showers and, in places, thunderstorms are expected in Kyiv and the surrounding region. Night-time temperatures will remain stable, whilst daytime temperatures will drop to +18°...+23°.

Natalia Didenko also warned that rain, thunderstorms and a drop in air temperature are expected in Kyiv by the end of the week.
