Law enforcement officials believe that inadequate medical care may have led to the death of a nine-year-old pupil at the institution.

A nine-year-old boy died in a specialised children's boarding school in the Chernivtsi region. Law enforcement agencies reported that a medical worker at the facility was suspected of involvement in the tragedy. This was reported by the Chernivtsi Regional Prosecutor's Office on Facebook.

According to the investigation, while performing her duties, the nurse failed to provide the child with the necessary medical care. Due to the delayed response, the boy's condition deteriorated rapidly, and despite the measures taken later, he could not be saved.

Under the procedural guidance of prosecutors from the Chernivtsi District Prosecutor's Office, the medical worker was notified of suspicion of improper performance of professional duties, which resulted in the death of the patient. The criminal offence is classified under Part 2 of Article 140 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine.

The pre-trial investigation is ongoing. Law enforcement officers are establishing all the circumstances and causes of the child's death.
