Former deputy detained in Lviv region on suspicion of evading mobilisation
In the Stryi district of the Lviv region, law enforcement officers detained a 53-year-old former deputy who is suspected of organising an illegal scheme to obtain money from a conscript in exchange for helping him avoid mobilisation. This was reported by the Lviv Regional Prosecutor's Office.
According to the investigation, in January of this year, a resident of the city of Zhydachiv, who was previously a deputy, offered a 29-year-old Lviv resident to "resolve the issue" of avoiding conscription. He claimed to have the necessary connections to influence officials of the first department of the Stryi District Territorial Centre for Recruitment and Social Support (RTCRSS), as well as members of the military medical commission of one of the district's hospitals.
The former deputy demanded 153,000 hryvnias for his "service." In exchange, the conscript was promised the opportunity to find official employment, obtain a reservation, and, accordingly, legal grounds for avoiding mobilisation into the Armed Forces of Ukraine.
Law enforcement officers detained the suspect in accordance with Article 208 of the Criminal Procedure Code of Ukraine while receiving part of the agreed amount — 153,000 hryvnias. He was notified of suspicion of abuse of influence under Part 3 of Article 369-2 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine.
At the request of the prosecution, the court imposed a preventive measure on the suspect in the form of detention with the possibility of bail. The pre-trial investigation is ongoing, and law enforcement officers are identifying other individuals who may have been involved in the illegal scheme.
