In Transcarpathia, a female driver crashed into a checkpoint: a border guard was killed
The accident occurred at dawn in the city of Perechyn. A 53-year-old local resident and her passenger were also injured.
Law enforcement officers established that a 53-year-old woman, driving her BMW X5, lost control, drove into the oncoming lane, and collided with a checkpoint.
As reported by the police, the woman showed obvious signs of intoxication; however, she refused to undergo testing. She faces up to 10 years in prison.
The driver herself and her passenger sustained injuries — they were hospitalized.
The deceased border guard, Volodymyr Sklovskiy, was 45 years old. He is survived by his wife and two children.
