Patrick Godfrey has died at the age of 93
British actor Patrick Godfrey has died at his home surrounded by his family. The cause of death has not yet been disclosed.
“It is with great sadness that we confirm that Patrick Godfrey passed away last night. He passed away peacefully at home surrounded by his family. Paddy was an incredibly talented actor and a wonderful person; we will miss him dearly,” the statement reads.
What the actor is known for
Godfrey gained international fame for his role as Leonardo da Vinci in the 1998 film *Cinderella Story* with Drew Barrymore. Over the course of his career, the actor appeared in dozens of films and TV series. Among his most famous works are *A Room with a View* (1986), *The Remains of the Day* (1993), *The Count of Monte Cristo* (2002) and *Les Misérables* (2012). He has also appeared in popular British television series, including *Doctor Who* and *Inspector Morse*.
Almost 70 years on stage and on screen
Patrick Godfrey was born in London in 1933. Early in his career, he worked in BBC radio drama, and later became a renowned stage actor. He performed on the British stage for many years, notably in classical and Shakespearean productions. The actor also mentored young artists, ran masterclasses and shared his experience. Patrick Godfrey is survived by his wife, the actress Amanda Walker, to whom he had been married since 1960, and two children.
