During a call about domestic violence, the abuser detonated a grenade
On July 12 at 22:33, an 18-year-old girl contacted the police and reported that in the village of Mykhailivka-Rubezhivka, her father was threatening her and her family with a grenade and firearms. Police officers from the Bucha district police department and special forces quickly arrived at the scene.
During the enforcement of the law, law enforcement officers entered the house, and at that moment, the offender activated a combat grenade and threw it towards the police. After the explosion, in order to stop the illegal actions of the attacker, police officers fired shots at the assailant. The 41-year-old suspect died at the scene.
As a result of the grenade explosion, five police officers received shrapnel wounds. The injured were taken to the hospital for necessary treatment.
During a search of the residence, four pistols, a pyrotechnic grenade, a hunting rifle, and a knife were found and seized.
Investigators opened a criminal case on the grounds of illegal handling of weapons, combat ammunition, or explosive substances, and attempted assault on a law enforcement officer (Part 1, Article 263, and Article 348 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine). Officers from the State Bureau of Investigation continue to work at the scene.
