Rain, thunderstorms and gusty winds are forecast for Ukraine on 12 May 2026. Heavy rain is expected in Zakarpattia and the Carpathians, whilst thunderstorms and, in places, squalls of 15–20 m/s are expected on the Right Bank during the day. The Ukrainian Hydrometeorological Centre has issued a Level I warning – yellow.

This is according to the forecast from the Ukrainian Hydrometeorological Centre.

On Tuesday, 12 May 2026, cloudy weather with sunny spells is expected in Ukraine.

According to the forecast by the Ukrainian Hydrometeorological Centre, heavy rain is expected in Zakarpattia and the Carpathians.

During the day, moderate rain, thunderstorms and, in places, squalls of 15–20 m/s are forecast for the Right Bank.

No significant precipitation is expected in the rest of Ukraine.

The wind will be mainly southerly, 7–12 m/s.

Night-time temperatures will range from +8 to +13 degrees. During the day, temperatures will rise to +18 to +23 degrees. In the far west of the country, it will be cooler – +12 to +17 degrees.

Weather in Kyiv and the region

Cloudy weather with sunny spells is also forecast for Kyiv and the Kyiv region on 12 May.

There will be no precipitation at night, whilst rain and thunderstorms are expected during the day.

The wind in the capital and the region will be southerly, 7–12 m/s. During the day, squalls of 15–20 m/s are possible in places.

Temperatures across the region will be +8...+13 degrees at night and +18...+23 degrees during the day.

In Kyiv, temperatures are forecast to be +10...+12 degrees at night and +20...+22 degrees during the day.

Yellow danger level

The Ukrainian Hydrometeorological Centre has issued a warning about dangerous weather conditions on 12 May.

Heavy rain is expected in Zakarpattia and the Carpathians. During the day, thunderstorms are forecast on the Right Bank, with squalls of 15–20 m/s in places.

Due to the bad weather, a Level I hazard warning – yellow – has been issued.

Forecasters warn that weather conditions may disrupt the operations of energy, construction and utility companies, as well as transport.

In Kyiv, temperatures are expected to reach +20...+22 degrees.

In Uzhhorod, temperatures are forecast to be +15...+17,
in Lviv – +14...+16,
in Ivano-Frankivsk – +19...+21,
in Ternopil – +19...+21,
in Chernivtsi – +19...+21,
in Khmelnytskyi – +19...+21.
In Lutsk it will be +14...+16,
in Rivne – +17...+19,
in Zhytomyr – +20...+22,
in Vinnytsia – +18...+20.
In Odesa, temperatures are expected to be +18...+20,
in Mykolaiv – +18...+20,
in Kherson – +20...+22,
in Simferopol – +20...+22.

In Kropyvnytskyi, Cherkasy, Poltava, Dnipro and Donetsk, temperatures are forecast to reach +21...+23 degrees.

In Chernihiv it will be +20...+22,
in Sumy – +19...+21,
in Zaporizhzhia – +20...+22,
in Luhansk – +20...+22,
in Kharkiv – +20...+22.

How long will the rain last?

Forecaster Ihor Kibalchych warned that the rain in Ukraine could last almost the whole week, including the weekend.

As reported by ThePublic, banks and currency exchange offices in Ukraine may refuse to accept dollars if the notes are badly damaged, have large stains, tears, traces of paint, significant wear and tear, or raise doubts as to their authenticity. At the same time, old $100 notes from 1996–2006 remain valid provided they are genuine and in good condition.
